W61 Organic Silicone High Temperature Resistant Paint

Product Description:

This is a single component high temperature paint containing organic silicone resin.

Multiple coatings can be applied during the curing crosslinking process without heating curing required. It can resist high temperature of 540℃ (1004℉).

Design Purpose:

It is used to protect open-fire chimneys, common chimneys, exhaust devices, ventilation equipment and pipeline steel from corrosion.

If the strongest anticorrosive protection is required, a zinc silicate primer should be applied before the product is coated.

Surface treatment:

All surfaces to be coated shall be clean, dry and free from contaminants. All surfaces shall be evaluated and treated in accordance with ISO 8504:2000 prior to application.

Oil and grease shall be removed according to SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning standard.

Blasting

The steel surface is sand-blasted to conform to Sa2.5 (ISO 8501-1:2007) or SSPC-SP6. If oxidation occurs between sand blasting and W61 application, the surface shall be sand-blasted to the specified visual standard.

Surface defects exposed during the sand blasting process shall be polished, filled or treated in a suitable manner.

It is recommended that the surface roughness be at least 25-50 microns.

Treat manually or with a power tool.

All coatings on the surface must be removed prior to the application of W61.

Clean manually or with a power tool to conform to St3 (ISO 8501-1:2007) or SSPC SP3 minimum standard.

Construction description:

Notes: all scales must be removed. The areas in which the scales that cannot be removed with a shovel or properly treated with a needle gun shall be sand-blasted locally to conform to Sa2 (ISO 8501-1:2007) or SSPC SP6 minimum standard. This situation generally applies to class C or class D corrosion of this standard.

Surface precoated with primer

W61 is suitable for application to steel components with new zinc silicate shop primer.

If the zinc dust shop primer peels off in a large-area scattering shape or generates a large amount of zinc salt, the whole area shall be blast-cleaned thoroughly.

If the surface cannot be coated with other types of shop primers, it shall be thoroughly removed by abrasive blasting.

Welds and damaged areas shall be at least treated to conform to Sa2.5 (ISO 8501-1:2007) or SSPC-SP6 standard.

Spray metallic aluminium

Metallic surfaces shall be sprayed with fresh, clean, moisture-free gases that do not contaminate steel surfaces.

Mixing: this coating is a single-component coating, which shall be completely stirred with a power stirrer  before construction.

Recommended construction method: air spraying (with pressure tank), DeVilbiss MBC or JGA spray gun

704 or 765 air nozzle

E nozzle

Air spraying (traditional) Use suitable special equipment

Diluent: special diluent for organic silicon series paints

Operation suspension: do not retain paint in the paint tube, the spray gun or the spraying equipment. Rinse all equipment thoroughly with special diluent for organic silicon series paints. It is not recommended to reseal the paint after mixing. If the work is interrupted for too long time, it is recommended to remix a set of paints for construction.

Cleaning: All equipment shall be cleaned immediately with special diluent for organic silicon series paints after use. It is a good habit to wash the spraying equipment regularly in daily work. The cleaning frequency depends on quantity of spray, temperature and spraying time, including delayed time and other factors.

All residual paints and containers shall be disposed in accordance with the appropriate local laws/regulations.

Product characteristics:

W61 is a moisture curing paint, which does not produce water vapor in the heat curing process like ordinary silicone paint. Therefore, the application thickness is 25 microns instead of 15 microns.

In case of heating, a single coating can be applied to a maximum thickness of 40 microns without bubbling.

Three coatings can be applied, the thickness of each coating is 25 microns, and no heating is required between coatings. This provides maximum protection when zinc silicate primer is not available.

There are varieties with two colors for selection: aluminum and black. Due to the superior performance of the aluminum-containing variety, it is recommended that the aluminum W61 be used wherever possible. The black variety is used only for special applications/requirements. Please consult with CHANGZHOU DONGFANG COATING (NIGERIA) CO., LTD for more information.

W61 aluminium powder varieties are suitable for the protection of steel structures continuously working at the drying temperature up to 540°C and sand-blasted. However, the maximum operating temperature is 400°C on the manually treated substrate.

W61 black varieties are suitable for the protection of steel structures continuously working at the drying temperature up to 400°C and sand-blasted. However, the maximum operating temperature is 300°C on the manually treated substrate.

Before the high temperature resistant paint is recoated on the inorganic zinc primer, the curing instructions in the product data sheet shall be followed to ensure that the inorganic zinc primer has been completely cured.

When the zinc silicate primer is used for optimal corrosion protection, it is recommended that the dry film thickness of the zinc silicate coating be 50 microns to ensure the maximum surface strength in the subsequent temperature cycles and avoid finish peeling.

It is best to recoat the zinc silicate paint before oxidation. However, if this is not possible, the zinc silicate surface shall be clean and free from zinc corrosion product.

In corrosive environments, use black W61 directly on the zinc silicate primer. Due to the salting-out effect of the undercoat, significant color change from black to gray will occur. Before the application of W61 black paint, firstly apply a W61 aluminum powder coating to seal the zinc silicate primer, greatly reducing this color change. The highest dry temperature resistance of the paint is 400°C.

W61 is not suitable for exposure to acidic or alkaline environments.

System compatibility:

This product is a special paint, so that it can only be matched with a few products. The suitable primer is E06-1 inorganic zinc-rich primer, and the suitable finish is W61 organic silicon high temperature resistant finish.
